A big part of what inspires me to keep up the hard work, study more, and nurture my savings account is meeting people like Charlotte. A UK Academy graduate, Charlotte Spain now runs her London-based business Redamancy Wedding Planning and Styling, as well as her award nominated Redamancy Blog. Charlotte inspires me because I want my own version of what she has, a burgeoning career in the wedding industry and to be the boss of my own business. It is the pleasure of seeing other people’s successes and that they are carving a place for themselves in the market, that helps keep my career dreams buoyant. If like me you are one of Charlotte’s Instagram followers you can evidently see how much fun she is having in her dream job! So it was an absolute pleasure to bump into Charlotte, where she was helping finesse the final styling details at the recent Luxury Wedding Retreat Preview.
So what is Redamancy all about?
Redamancy was launched in January 2016 and means “The act of loving the one who loves you; a love returned in full.” What a perfect word to sum up the love and emotion tied up in the fulfilling happiness of a wedding! Charlotte extolls the importance of letting that love take centre stage and stress take a back seat so that her couples can enjoy their engagement and have fun with their wedding, in style!
“Often people simplify their weddings in order to take the stress off, toning down the style and decorative elements to make things more manageable. But I see no reason why your wedding cannot be stylistically perfect, glamorous, and stress-free!”
Breaking into the industry
During the launch of her business, Charlotte did what many Academy students do and set out to get industry experience, putting her newly learned skills into real life practice. “I wanted to get some hands-on practical experience and learn from the best in the business and so I became a Brand Ambassador for Pamella Dunn Events in June 2016 – an opportunity that I discovered through the Wedding Academy.” Pamella is a member of our Academy Advisory Board – an expert panel of wedding & event industry professionals. She is a big advocate of nurturing new talent having taken on several of our Academy students, sharing her wealth of knowledge and experience with the next generation of talented wedding entrepreneurs.
It is truly inspiring to see how her Academy education and on the job experience have helped mould Charlotte into the wedding industry contributor she is today. When I spoke to her a couple of weeks ago Charlotte’s schedule seemed packed with lots of exciting projects, so watch this space!
2017 definitely seems to have got off to a good start for Redamancy. A Mystic Boho Wedding styled shoot was featured on Boho Weddings Blog, which Charlotte describes as “a huge moment for me and my business.” On top of this Charlotte is a recommended wedding planner and stylist for wedding inspiration directory, And So To Wed. And in addition, this March Redamancy was named as a “recommended wedding planner on the Rock My Wedding ‘Love Lust List‘ which suggests style-focused industry professionals to brides and grooms.”
Blogging Success
We love blogs and we love blogging, and we are guessing you do too if you’re reading this. But making a success of blogging can also be a tough nut to crack, with a number of wedding blogs already out there. Charlotte approached blogging with her Redamancy brand ethos in mind.
“It provides realistic wedding advice to couples getting married, and I tend to tell it how it is and debunk popular wedding myths which just aren’t true! As a wedding planner, the aim of my blog is to help couples stay grounded during their wedding planning as this is the only way to keep stress levels down and not end up with an unhealthy focus on their wedding day – marriage is far more important!”
And she has definitely shown us how to make a success of blogging as a new business! In April 2017, the Redamancy blog was named Highly Commended in the wedding and events category at the UK Blog Awards 2017. To say Charlotte was buzzing is an understatement – “I beat some full-time professional blogs to the post and am absolutely honoured to have been given that title.” Since her success at The Blog Awards, Charlotte has added copywriting to her business services and been made a contributing writer at ‘And So To Wed’. We can’t wait to see more from Charlotte and wish her much success with Redamancy.
Charlotte is a graduate of our UKAWEP Advanced Diploma In Special Event Planning And Design. If you are interested in this course, find out more here.
