A little update from me and my journey from Uni Student to Wedding Planner.
So, I’m a few months into my journey now, and I feel like I’ve definitely settled into my role as “The Apprentice Wedding Planner”!
It’s been quite an intense month for me (well, for all of us). I’ve had to establish a really tight schedule. One that incorporates my time with the Academy and allows me to dedicate enough time to the final year of my degree. Which in itself has come with its own complications and adaptations!
And we’ve all had to deal with more restrictions and rule changes than we ever thought.
But here we are!
I’m definitely settled in my role with the Academy, and my feelings towards my position certainly haven’t changed – I still adore it. I’m really getting a feel for everything and even starting to find the area that resonates most with me!

Here are a few answers to some of the questions that I’ve received from you all!
What has been the most helpful thing you’ve learnt so far now you’ve settled in with the Academy?
Well as I’m still juggling my degree and my work with the Academy, time management and working for quick deadlines has been the thing that’s proved to be my most helpful tool.
And that’s not just for work life, but life in general! Being organised never hurts!

And what would you say have been the biggest challenges for you so far? How have you overcome them?
I’d say the biggest challenge has been trying to establish myself and find the confidence to voice my ideas and my visions. There are never any bad ideas, so for me having the confidence to put those out in the open is a huge challenge for me.
2020 has ended up being a very difficult year for so many people. Why did you choose this time to embark on a new journey with the Wedding Academy?
2020 has undoubtably been one of the most challenging years so far. It’s been filled with uncertainty and many of us have lost a lot of things that we’ve treasured.
And maybe that’s one of the reasons I chose now to embark on this journey. It’s something new to get stuck into and invested in. It’s something positive for me to focus on in the current situation!
Are there any pros and cons to working in the wedding industry during a pandemic?
I’d say there’s a con to everything during a pandemic. For me starting out, it’s a real shame that I’m not able to get the hands-on experience with my mentor. Attending styled shoots and seeing what a day in the wedding industry is really like.
I’m just hoping that when we can finally do things in person that I can pull it off!
What advice would you give to someone dreaming about becoming a Wedding Planner during this time?
Although 2020 has thrown hurdle after hurdle I think it’s actually a great time to learn how to self-motivate and self-discipline. If you’ve never worked from home before starting out can absolutely be a challenge. But what a great time to get started!
If you’re working for something that you have a passion for then it really doesn’t feel like hard work at all. Be strict with yourself, take breaks, and plan, plan, plan!
It’s completely normal to feel a little unmotivated without the inspiration to create anything new.
It’s an extremely strange and unknown time for everyone. But keep doing the little things that put a smile on your face. For me, it’s writing these blog posts, creating little mood boards, and planning ahead.
Focus on the reason why you started all of this in the first place! You’ve got this.
