You have the ability to achieve great things in both life and business and are willing to do what it takes to reach your goals. Your ambition is your driver and you’re ready to learn and develop the skills required to launch your own business and be the success you’ve always dreamed of being.
Failure doesn’t scare you and you’re happy to bend the rules and take risks when needed and this usually pays off for you. Your drive and energy are infectious and you inspire those around you to join you as you roll the dice of the future to see where you go next.
MOTIVATION. ENERGY. DETERMINATION.
Your MOTIVATION will see you through the slower times when things aren’t moving as quickly as you’d like them to.
You’re never down for long and are able to kickstart yourself whenever the need arises.
Your ENERGY levels allow you to achieve more than most squeezing every single minute out of the hours you have available to get things done.
And finally, your DETERMINATION to succeed gives you an uncanny ability to never give up no matter how tough things get.
“Focus on WIN. What’s Important Now.” – Lou Holtz
I hope so because as an Achiever Personality, you’re in the perfect position to attract clients that love your ideas and see the value in working with you.
The dominant stories currently stopping you from creating wedding magic and launching your new business are:
What if they see right through me and realise I have no experience?
What if my couples blame me if something goes wrong?
What if I’m just not good enough and the business never really takes off?
But not on my watch
Your quiz results are just the first step in helping you overcome your doubts and give you the confidence to move forward. It’s time to change the narrative.
IT’S TIME TO…
Take a calculated risk on yourself and your wedding business dream and realise that not everything is controllable but everything is definitely possible.
Believe in your own abilities knowing you’ve done your due diligence, crunched the numbers and it all stacks up on paper.
Understand that a certain amount of stress is inevitable especially at the start of your business journey.
And even the best laid plans have hitches – it’s all part of being in business.
Beyonce, Madonna and Oprah all started off with nothing more than a dream, a dream similar to yours, to succeed on their own terms.
But there’s one thing all these women had in common, and that’s passion. A passion to turn their dreams into a reality.
Preparation is the foundation of any successful business. It’s about preparing and understanding your business vision.
What is that drives you and makes you want to become a Wedding Planner?
Contrary to popular belief you can’t just dream it and it’ll happen. Just like you would if you wanted to be a doctor, accountant or hairdresser you need to put in the hard yards and do some study.
What type of couples do you want to work with? Who is your ideal wedding client and what do you know about them? And I don’t mean just a vague notion of who they are. I mean knowing them really well.
This final piece of the formula is the piece most new wedding planners worry about. It’s time to decide what type of weddings you want to plan and get specific and targeted. Finding your niche is about finding where you fit in.

P – PREPARE
Making a success of your business comes down to emotions. There is a famous saying by Simon Sinek, “People don’t buy what you do they buy why you do it.” And I really couldn’t believe that more wholeheartedly because I have seen it work time and time again.
People don’t fall in love with a product or service they fall in love with the way it makes them feel. It’s about the emotion it evokes within them. That’s why this step is so important. They aren’t interested in what you do, they’re only interested in how what you do makes them feel. What’s in it for them? Why should they want to hire you as a wedding planner?Â
Telling people you’re going to make their life easier doesn’t really cut it. How are you going to make their life easier? What is it about you that they’re going to be able to connect with? What story are you going to tell that fires them up and resonates with them?
This is a giant piece of the puzzle and is what stands as the foundation upon which most really successful businesses are built.
L – LEARN
You’re going to be responsible for the biggest day of someone’s life and you need to know what you’re doing.
As great as planning your own wedding is, it doesn’t prepare you for being on the other side of things as one of the wedding pros. There’s a lot you need to know and learn.
But don’t worry it doesn’t have to be all overwhelming and confusing and it isn’t something you need to do full time. All our students have full time jobs and study in their spare time in the evenings and at weekends and they love it. With the way online learning has developed over the last few years you can study from the comfort of your own home and still get great, engaging content and watch tutorials that will teach you just as much as you’d learn in a physical classroom.Â
Now obviously I hope the Wedding Academy is going to be your education company of choice but that aside please don’t try to jump into this with both feet and take risks with someone’s wedding day. Get educated, whoever it’s with.
A – AUDIENCE
You need to know your ideal client’s innermost wants, desires, fears & needs by taking a step into their shoes & looking at their day-to-day existence.
Think about what motivates them and what their style is. Imagine you’re researching the lead character in a new book & you need to know everything about them. Where would you start?Â
To really know your ideal client, you need to start asking questions. What does your ideal client eat? What do they look like? What are their hobbies? Where do they hang out? Where does your ideal client live? What is their salary? What brands do they buy? Get inside your client’s head.
Once you have info on your ideal client it’s time to create a Client Persona – a fictional representation of your ideal client. Imagine you’re writing a dating profile on your ideal client. Or think about how you’d describe them to someone else. It will really help you to understand the essence of your client.
N – NICHE
Are you going to focus on festival weddings, destination weddings or maybe themed weddings?Â
Now, you might be thinking if you target a specialised section of the market you won’t get as many clients, actually the opposite is true. You’re actually attracting couples who are so connected with what you do they’ll gladly pay a premium for your unique services.
For example, as a wedding planner you might specialise in elopements, destination weddings to Italy or maybe weddings for the busy female lawyer.
Telling couples you provide excellent customer service, meet their needs in every way and will do whatever it takes to make their day 100% perfect doesn’t cut it.Â
You know why? Every other business they go to tells them the same thing.Â
If you want to book more weddings you need to be extremely clear and very focused not only on the uniqueness of you, but who you want to help.Â
The key here is to remember that although you’re selling your services to all couples. Why not? Well that would be like saying I’m opening a restaurant and will serve every single type of food you can think of. It wouldn’t work. You can’t specialise in Italian, Indian and Chinese food all in the same kitchen, and the same applies to weddings.
Â
And I started out just like you. Trust me I wasn’t born into the wedding industry, although I’ve been in it so long now it sometimes feels like it.Â
I was the little girl that spent her days hosting weddings with her dolls and putting a net curtain over her head pretending it was a veil.Â
I was also the girl who would spend hours creating amazing looking tables for my Mum’s dinner parties pulling out every single piece of china and glassware she owned and practicing folding napkins so they looked amazing.Â
It’s safe to say I was a little bit obsessed with weddings and dĂ©cor.Â
However, I didn’t start off in the wedding industry. I started life as a classical musician and trained at the Royal College of Music and I still love playing piano and violin to this day. I was definitely passionate about it but there was something missing.Â
So much to my parent’s horror I decided to leave music behind me and take a job as an office assistant in a London events company. And the rest, as they say, is history.
It was a huge risk as my parents had invested a fortune in my music career and I’d invested countless hours making it happen.Â
But sometimes you just have to take a risk, so that’s what I did and I’ve never looked back. I had ten years as a Wedding Planner running my own business and now I help others have the same success I did.
In the last 14 years I’ve helped over 7,000 new Wedding Planners get their start in the wedding industry and I’d love to help you too.
