Hi I’m Kim & I’m a UK Accredited Wedding & Event Planner and Designer.

I am also one of those 1 in 4 who have a mental health struggle. Now, I have always loved & been intrigued by the logistics, creativity & shear hard work that goes into events of all kinds. However it wasn’t until during my studies that I started to combine mental health with event planning, despite being a sufferer for many years, it wasn’t something I’d considered combining before.

Planning an event, especially a wedding, is a daunting, anxiety inducing prospect for many people, let alone those who already have added struggles, such as mental health. This is how Keep It Memorable was born. Born from a sufferer who wants to be able to provide an understanding ear, a helping hand & a safe place for those planning their special events.

I currently work with English Heritage as an historic property steward within the hospitality sector: so I work everything from conferences to weddings and evening filming! This is something I truly enjoy & is fantastic on ground experience. I don’t intend on leaving any time soon as I truly love it where I am, so will be doing my own business alongside.

I was hoping to do a gentle start this year as I’m a newbie, however with the current global situation I’ve put that on hold.

Bride specifically asked us not to provide table placements because they were on budget?!? I know right! Later People became aggressive because of only drinking beverages provided for wedding day and ended up yelling on us and even pushing around for not providing table placements. It was one memorable lesson event

What have you been up to since you graduated from the Wedding Academy?

Since graduating from The Wedding Academy I’ve taken the huge step of quitting my full time job and I’ve launched my own wedding and events planning and styling business, Jordan Weaver Events. It’s been a time full of unforeseen challenges (I launched three weeks before the COVID-19 shut downs!) but seeing my dream business take shape has been incredibly rewarding.

What’s your favourite part about running your wedding or event business?

For me, it all comes back to the couples I’m so fortunate to work with. When they tell me their day was better than they ever could have imagined or I see them laughing and dancing with their guests at their reception without a care in the world, it gives me such a buzz and reinforces why I love what I do.

Walk before you run and have patience!

  • Everyone who comes anywhere near me (even the postie knows) learns of my Friday night bath. It is THE thing that keeps me going through any nonsense during the week. It involves 2 hours of nuclear hot water, lots of foamy bubbles, candles, a good book and one or two (maybe 3) glasses of Prosecco. It used to also include chocolate until I found out how much weight I was putting on so I had to choose between chocolate or Prosecco…. a no brainer for me ????????

The Academy is not just a learning platform, although it is a detailed well-planned program of work, it is much more than that. My journey with the Academy started in 2019. Just like most of the people in this industry , I had started the wedding and events business without formal training. I was spending a lot of time on Pinterest , not for inspiration , but rather copying other people’s work.

All this changed once I enrolled. The course content, the mentors and the student community was on another level. The creative in me was born through The Wedding Academy. I cant believe those I had approached here locally for mentoring , those that I considered as Gurus are now ordinary.

One thing I will always be grateful about the Academy is that it managed to rescue me from addiction to Pinterest.
