This month’s Podcast on Academy Live is an interview done by our UK Course Specialist Zoe, with Heidi Thompson of Evolve Your Wedding Business.  Heidi’s business is designed to help wedding professionals, ‘book more weddings’ and she shares some excellent tips in this Podcast that are going to help you grow your wedding business. One of the topics covered in this discussion, is how to approach exhibiting at Wedding Fairs (or as we sometimes call them here in Australia, Wedding Expos).  If exhibiting at Expos is something you are thinking about doing with your wedding business, I highly recommend taking some time to listen to the Podcast.  Heidi offers advice for how to approach the Expo in terms of your expectations for what you will get out of it.  She recommends putting yourself in the engaged couple’s shoes and considering why they are attending.  Most of them are not there to buy, they are gathering information and inspiration.  Your aim should be to collect leads, so you can follow up with your sales pitch later.

Simple advice, but really worth keeping in mind.  I hear so many people judging the success of an Expo on whether they got those sales on the day, whilst for most people exhibiting, especially Planners and Designers, this just isn’t going to happen.
