In case you missed our last issue from October 2018 you can check that out right here. Each issue is packed full of great articles, advice and interviews to help you run a better wedding business.
This issue of the magazine is all about branding, in particular re-branding and breathing new life into your wedding business. The start of any new year is such a great time to look at what is and isn’t happening in your business so you can make sure it is firing on all cylinders and ready to kick ass for the year ahead.
A brand review for me is an analysis of the overall health of my brand from the products or services I offer, the way I price, and the client experience to the way I use social media, the marketing I do and everything else that makes up my business.

What’s in this Issue of the Wedding Business Magazine 2019?

Our feature interview is with Lisa Johnson, the founder of Carmela Weddings, and the creator of Lisa Johnson Coaching, and she talks to us about passive income, how you can create passive income within your wedding business and how it has changed her business model.
We then move onto our new team of columnists who will be with us each issue for 2019.
Alex Tooby is heading up our brand new column WEDInsta and she’s talking about how to make sure your Instagram efforts are paying off by doing an InstaAudit. She told us: “Performing regular Instagram audits will help you stay on track and focused on the integral parts of your Instagram strategy.
I’m thrilled to have Ashley of Ashley and Malone on our new column WEDBrand as they are responsible for the gorgeous design of all the Academy websites. We love these thoughts from Ashley: “Complete a deep dive into your businesses values, audience and your goals. Knowing your WHY is important as you make changes in your brand.
Kate Cullen is our new resident Pinterest expert on WEDPin and her article in this issue is all about harnessing the power of pinning. The stats she shares are impressive:  “Did you know that Pinterest users search for wedding related content 378 million times a year? Or that 40 million people use Pinterest specifically to plan their wedding each year?
Another new columnist for 2019 is Michelle Loretta of Sage Wedding Pros and she’s heading up WEDBizCoach. Michelle is tackling the hot subject of avoiding business burnout in the year ahead. We absolutely agree with her top tip: “If you set parameters for when your clients can communicate with you, not only will you have more time to get your work done (and attend to your own needs), but also your clients will respect you more.

We’re excited to have Meryl Snow on board in another new column WEDSales. In this issue Meryl talks about the 4 things you need to have in place for a strong sales strategy in 2019. We completely agree with Meryl when she says: “No matter the size of your team, take the time to ramp up your sales approach for the year ahead and you won’t be disappointed.
Jen Feroze of Jackdaw Editorial is heading up another of our new columns WEDCopy and she’s talking about honing your message and the power of a consistent review. We love her thoughts on this: “The wedding industry is an intensely visual one, but it’s the wording that you use to give context and clarity to your images that make your brand so much more compelling.
Networking is something many people struggle with but our next new contributor on WEDTribe, Nadine Metgenberg of Fine Weddings, is known as a ‘power networker’. Our top takeaway from Nadine: “As an entrepreneur, it’s essential to make and maintain good connections. A quality network doesn’t only include potential new customers or contacts, but also mentors.”
Technology also plays a big part in your brand and in our WEDTech column Sandy Hammer of All Seated talks about how you can make the most of it. Sandy had this to say: “Technology-based solutions like 24/ 7 live chat, a genuine social media presence and helpful webinars allow businesses to meet client needs and exceed their expectations, thereby elevating the overall customer service experience.
Our final new column for 2019 is WEDMail and this one is headed up by Cristina Barragan of Posh Peony. In this issue Cristina talks us through her email nurture campaign and just how it can help your wedding business grow. Here’s some advice from Cristina: “Let me tell you, implementing an email series that welcomes and educates your prospects the moment they contact you, is the first step to creating the ultimate client experience.

Christie Osborne of Mountainside Media joins us on WEDSocial and in this issue she has some great advice on reviewing your brand to perfect your messaging on Facebook for 2019. This tip from Christie really resonates: “The reason why it’s so hard for most small businesses to produce awesome content for Facebook that captivates their audiences and drives traffic and leads, is they don’t have a strong grasp on their brand messaging.
Our CEO Kylie Carlson is on WEDExpert to share her business knowledge to help you grow your business and in this issue she’s talking about email marketing for your wedding business. We love this quote from her: “I know it doesn’t sound as sexy as creating gorgeous images for your Instagram feed, however, remember you don’t own your followers on Instagram, but you do own your email list.
Tracy Butterfield is back with her WEDx column shining the spotlight on how you can give your brand a makeover in 2019. Tracy’s shared this with us: “Your Brand Platform is the foundation for every piece of brand communication and is essential to your business success. Without it your business can lack an identified purpose.”
Meghan Ely of OFD Consulting is also back with her WEDPR column and has some great advice on reviewing your press portfolio with some great tips on how to display your press features. Meghan’s top tip: “Getting into the habit of annually auditing your press portfolio in terms of branding is a great way to evaluate how well your media mentions represent you and your business.

I started the Certificate in Wedding Planning course in 2022 and although I had a couple of setbacks, I could complete the course in December 2024 just before Christmas! The team and the Facebook group are supportive and encouraging, the information is helpful and helps you to understand the different aspects of being a wedding planner and the roles that come it.

The courses are well thought out and the live classes are AMAZING! I really like that the courses aren't focused on selling you into the next course. You take what you need and if you are not sure, the advisors are there to help. ❤

From my very first contact with the Wedding Academy, I have felt part of a wonderful, supportive community. The courses are well explained and there are a multitude of avenues to get additional information and support if required. Being part of the academy is like having your own business mentor by your side.
