A couple of weeks ago I had the privilege of being interviewed by Kinsey Roberts for the She Creates Business Podcast Show. Our topic was Storytelling in Video Marketing for Wedding Pros. I’m excited to say you can now listen to the full podcast right here.
Once upon a time, the idea of having a video made for your wedding business was only for those who had money to burn. Nowadays, video marketing is no longer considered a luxury – but rather a necessity.
It’s a powerful way to connect with you audience and it gives you full creative license to reach out through the screen and grab your viewer’s attention and capture their hearts and imagination at the same time.
It’s all about creating that emotional connection and that’s what video helps you to do. Plus, it helps that Google and the other search engines LOVE video. This can only be a good thing for your website SEO.

Why storytelling in video marketing?

In today’s social media driven world we love to know what’s going on behind the scenes and we absolutely want to know the person behind the brand. Especially in the wedding industry where we’re working with people on such a personal level. That’s where storytelling marketing comes into play.
However, you have to remember that with video, the same as any other medium, it isn’t about you it’s always about your ideal client. As one of my favourite gurus, Simon Sinek, always says, ‘People don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it.’
Telling your story in a way that creates an emotional connection with your ideal client is the key. Video can really help you to tell that story.
If a picture is worth a thousand words then a video is worth a million.

It’s not about you it’s about your ideal client

The most important thing to remember is that video is NOT an advertisement for your wedding business!
Don’t turn every video into an advert for the amazing services you offer. This is really important for building that all important know, like, trust factor…don’t even be tempted to go there!
Tell a story, your story. What brought you into the wedding industry? How does it make you feel and how can you use that in a way that resonates with your ideal client?
Always remember to bring it back to your ideal client and what’s in it for them. Why should they care? How can you relate what your saying back to them.

Show you personality

Don’t try to be someone you’re not. be your own unique self.
The wonderful thing about video is it very quickly allows people to love you or hate you. If they can’t stand to watch you on a two minute video they were never your client in the first place.
Video helps you to quickly weed out those people that aren’t your tribe allowing you to focus on those that are.
I hope you enjoy this podcast and don’t forget to subscribe to Kinsey’s show after you listen. You can find her at www.shecreatesbusinesspodcast.com
