Our Student of the Month in Australia this month is Ryan of Brides by Ryan. Ryan recently Graduated from the Academy with a Certificate in Wedding Planning. Graduation was quickly followed by the launch of his business which was Ryan’s dream.
When I interviewed Ryan I was so impressed with his ‘can do’ attitute, but also his maturity and patience. About combing work with business Ryan had this to say;
“I currently work full time as a team leader in a foster care agency and with the business as well it is very demanding on my time. My biggest belief is that if you are going to do something, do it, but allocate your time appropriately. Don’t over commit yourself to things and keep it in control. My other biggest tip is be patient! Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will your business so take the time to ensure that everything is perfect and exactly how you want it before you launch yourself out there”
Often we hold ourselves back from pursuing a dream because it seems challenging. Of course launching a business is challenging, but if you take away the pressure of having to succeed from day one and give yourself the space to enjoy and learn from the process (by supplementing your business income with paid employment) you can still make it. Yes it may take a little more time, but if you keep putting one foot in front of the other, set realistic timelines and stay focussed on your goals, its achievable.
