Email Marketing

Last night was #WedBizHour and the subject was email marketing. This form of marketing is still one of the biggest tools in your tool box, but only if you use it properly.

You’ve got Mail. Anyone remember that iconic phrase? People’s Inboxes in 2016 are rammed with emails and everyone is trying to sell their products & services. So how do you stand out amongst all the chatter? What are the rules and regulations around email marketing? Well first of all you need to be invited into your client’s Inbox, think of it like an invite to dinner. Be on your best behaviour & show respect. The golden rule with email marketing is making sure you get permission to email the. Spamming is not cool & is reportable.

Getting people to sign up to your newsletters requires some thought and foresight. You need to give them a reason to want to sign up and once they have signed up not unsubscribe. Free Ebooks, Worksheets or a Series of Emails showing people how to do something work well as bate, but make sure you have good follow up. If you promise a Series of Emails makes sure you deliver them when you say you will.

Your email newsletters should be about building a relationship with the reader & not for constantly selling to them.  Balance out your email content. Have a mix of product updates, sales & personal messages. Engage your audience.

If you weren’t able to join in our Twitter Hour yesterday then we do have a transcript from the chat, which can be found here and there is some great advice shared for you to apply in your own email marketing.
