This week we have another guest post from a Wedding industry expert for you. This week we take a closer look at working with a Caterer, as a Wedding Planner.
Catering of course is a big element of any wedding and working with a caterer can be a challenge, especially when doing off premise catering. There are so many extra things to think about and challenges to overcome. Today our Advisory Board Member, Jane Riddell from Planned For Perfection, has stopped by to give us some advice on how a wedding planner can work harmoniously with a caterer.
“The most important thing about working with caterers (& all wedding suppliers involved in the wedding day) is communication. My role isn’t just to plan and style a fabulous event, it’s about working closely with the team of chosen suppliers to bring the entire event together seamlessly.
To do that, I need to be fully aware of the couples expectations for each company, know each suppliers plans for the day and then work with them to ensure everyone delivers exactly what the clients have asked for. As a wedding planner, we attend regular tastings that are usually carried out long before the wedding day, so I always take pictures of each dish as they arrive and add them to the notes at a later stage, to make sure that the dish is replicated perfectly on the wedding day.
I have worked with some fabulous caterers over the years and know first hand, that the more you work together as a team behind the scenes, the easier it is to exceed all expectations on the wedding day. ”
Thanks Jane, as usual some great advice. You can find out more about Jane and Planned for Perfection by following them on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram.
