We love to encourage our community to experience new things as a way to inspire and enhance creativity  in design and thinking; something our industry thrives on.  We also believe strongly in the power of pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone.
This month I have asked some of our team, who work hard to inspire our Students every day, to share things for you to try this month.  The idea is that one of these things may just kick start something wonderful for you, or simply give you an experience that makes you feel good about life.

Reach out to someone in business who inspires you. Ask them about how they got to where they are today and what inspires/motivates them. – Lisa Macale Australian Academy of Wedding & Event Planning/Willow Tree Creative

Try a new form of marketing this quarter for your business. Whether it is Email Marketing, Social Media, or Blogging, research something you haven’t tried before and if it makes sense, make a plan for including it in your marketing mix. – Nicole Blackwelder Caribbean Academy of Wedding & Event Planning/Institute of Wedding and Event Design

Visualise your first client meeting. What will you wear? What will you take with you and in which bag? Where would be appropriate to meet them? – Zoe McKeown UK Academy of Wedding & Event Planning/Cherish Wedding Planning

Read; ‘Steal Like an Artist-10 things nobody told you about being creative’, by Austin Kleon. Christine Ligthart Academy of Wedding & Event Planning AU, NZ, UK, Caribbean, Arabian.

If you have a dream of becoming a wedding planner but have no experience, I recommend that you try to find a job, even on a part time basis, with a good local Venue. Gaining experience will increase your knowledge, boost your confidence and help you to see pitfalls to avoid, along with giving you some idea of the reality of the wedding business. Susan Parrish – UK Academy of Wedding & Event Planning/Eleganza Weddings
