You asked for it and we are delivering, a special field trip in Melbourne celebrating some of Melbourne’s fabulous Venues and Wedding locations and taking in the experience of One Fine Day.
This tour is ideal for anyone wanting to gain some practical experience of conducting Site Inspections for Weddings, learn more about Garden Weddings and explore One Fine Day with us. This field trip has been organised for our Students and Graduates, but anyone considering study with the Academy, who would like to meet us, is welcome to join us for Cocktails. Your host is Christine Ligthart – Director of Education for the International Academy of Wedding & Event Planning and Academy Tutor. Christine is also the Director of I Do Crew and Co-Founder of Styled Images.
Day 1 – Friday 5th May
Our afternoon commences with a tour of one of Melbourne’s newest and most sophisticated Wedding & Event Venues, the Glasshouse. We then walk across to the beautiful Royal Botanic Gardens where Garden Wedding experts Denise and Peter of the Wedding Zone, will be our guides. In this session you will have an opportunity to view the Gardens through the eyes of two people who have been working within them as Wedding professionals for years. You will also have the opportunity to ask lots of questions to extend your understanding of the rules and restrictions of working in the Gardens and the tricks of the trade, to ensure smooth bump in’s and outs and weddings that go off, without a hitch and comply to council regulations.
From the Gardens we will board our bus for the short trip to the Atlantic Group at Dockside, where we will explore 4 of their iconic and extremely popular event spaces; Peninsula, Maia, Sumac and Sketch. During our Bus Trip we will share a glass of bubbly and divulge our tips for doing Site Inspections, so that when we arrive, you are ready to walk into the Venue with the eyes of a Wedding Planner and actually carry out a Site Inspection yourself.
The afternoon will include with cocktails (venue you to be confirmed). Students and Graduates not able to attend the field trip, are welcome to join us for cocktails.
Day 1 Schedule
12.15 pm Meet at the Glasshouse for a 12.30pm start. Please review this map for location/parking.
1.15 pm Short walk to the Gardens
1.30 pm Wedding Garden Experts Denise and Pete share their secrets/Gardens Bus Tour
2.45 pm Travel to the Atlantic Group by Bus, past Gardens House
3.30 pm Explore the 4 Atlantic Group Event Spaces
4.30 pm Cocktails – venue to be announced
*We will assist with coordinating transport back to Olympic Park for anyone with a car parked there.
The cost of this event is $50 + GST. To register/pay Email Christine. Numbers are strictly limited for the Venue Tours to 10.
Day 2 – Saturday 6th May
On Saturday the Academy will be heading to One Fine Day Melbourne. Entry to this event is at your own cost and you can purchase your tickets here. We will be meeting Students and Graduates at the entry at 10am and conducting a walking tour through One Fine Day for approx. 60 minutes; so we can explore together. You are then welcome to enjoy the Fair at your leisure. Please RSVP to join the walking tour.
