Earlier this year we launched a new initiative at the Academy, #WedPin. The idea behind #WedPin was to give our students and others who wanted to join in, the chance to apply their design skills to a challenge.  Each month we set a theme and asked you to curate a Pinterest board that tells a story, relating to that theme. We have had some fabulous entries since the challenge kicked off, but I think December has been our best month yet, with all entries being completed to a very high standard. This was also pleasing to see, as many of our #WedPinners have been playing along since the beginning and this was another one our aims with #WedPin; to help you develop your ‘designer’s eye’ over time and I have seen this happen for many of the participants. I hope this opportunity is what will encourage those of you who have just started, or entered as yet, to join in next year.
This month the challenge was to take the Pantone Colour of the Year pairing of Serenity and Rose Quartz and show us how you would use it in a wedding design.  The challenge was seemingly easy, as the colours are pretty shades of blue and pink, but the difficulty lay in using them in a way that didn’t make the wedding look like a baby shower, or child’s birthday party.   We had a record number of entries for this month’s challenge, helped along by the chance to have your entry published in the very first edition of the Wedding Business magazine, which will launch in January.  The runner’s up  will have their entries published here on the Wedding Academy Live Blog over the next 2 weeks.
So without further ado, lets meet our winners.
Our first runner’s up is Anna Lengyel with her submission, ‘Pastel is the New Black’.  You can see Anna’s Pinterest board here.
Our second runner’s up is Natalie Hill of Poppies Wedding and Event Planning.  Her concept is called, ‘Rococo Style and Marie Antoinette’ and you can see her Pinterest Board here.
Our winner and the person who will have their board published in the Wedding Business Magazine, is Ashlee Brindley, with her submission; ‘Raw. Ethereal. Organic. Romantic. Soft. Textured’.  You can see Ashlee’s Pinterest board here and to see her winning Inspiration Board, subscribe to the Wedding Business Magazine.
I am looking forward to sharing each of these boards with you over the coming weeks and please join with me in congratulating our winners and everyone who submitted entries.  Finally, thank you for helping to make #WedPin such a success this year. We look forward to bringing it back in 2016. For now, Happy Pinning over the holidays!
