Welcome back to our monthly Pinterest challenge, #WedPin. This month’s theme comes to us from a student from our Australian campus, Carly Channell. When I approached Carly about setting a theme for #WedPin she embraced the challenge and proposed two very different ideas. The one I have chosen for you is going to seem a little strange to begin with, but remember, this is supposed to be a challenge and a chance for you to explore that creative brain of yours and I think this theme is certainly going to do that.
This month’s theme is; War Bride. Here is what Carly has to say about her theme:
“When I think about the term, War Bride, I think about the simplicity of the time. Men were being shipped off to war and their prospective wives wanted to marry before they left. It was a simple wedding that really focused on the couple and their desire to be united in marriage before one of them went to war and possibly never returned. I like that in this time there was a focus on the elegance of the simple things and the true meaning of marriage – love & unity.”
This theme may inspire in you thoughts of weddings during the war years (WWI and WWII). You may be drawn to the style of those eras. Or, you may use the term as a launching pad for designing a concept for a modern-day bride, that draws on the ideas of elegance and simplicity that were part of life during the war years. Perhaps something else comes to mind entirely when you think of the phrase. How you interpret this theme is really up to you and part of the challenge, but please include a description of your concept when you send me the link to your #WedPin Board.
Need a reminder of our #WedPin rules, please refer to the bottom section of this post for all the details. Entries for our November challenge close, Monday, November 23 and should be emailed to me.
I can’t wait to see how you interpret this theme and a big thanks to Carly for coming up with this challenge.
