Congratulations! You have made it to Week 4 of the Career Change Challenge. If you have been following the weekly lessons, you should now have a clear/clearer idea in your mind what you want your career to be and have a list of things you would need to do to make it happen. That is what I call taking action!
Now it’s time for what could be the hardest part so far, but I know you can do it.
Let’s Map Your Way Forward
This next step can be the most frustrating. You have made your decision. Your goal is clear. You have determined what you need to do to achieve it and now you want it. This is great. Use that passion to spur you on, but also understand that most goals are achieved through baby steps. So your next task is to outline those steps. Take out everything you have done so far in the challenge, review it and focus on the details, especially those lists you wrote out in the last week where we ‘explored’ what you would have to do to bring this career into your life.
Action
I will say it again, this challenge is about taking action. So this week what you are striving to do is create a road map (to do list/action plan) that sets out, step by step what you are going to do to achieve your goal. But don’t stop there; put time-frames around each step. They can and should be realistic and at the end even if you have a plan that will take you years to execute, it is ok. Whether it takes you 1, 2, 3 or more years to execute your plan, you will still be closer to your dream career than you were 4 years ago.
To summarise, this week is all about details. You already know the why and the what. By the end of this week, you should have a plan for the how, the when and the where.
Good luck with your challenge and please join us in the ‘Do What You Love Facebook Group’. We are there to support you and we will also be posting some handy Journal prompts to help you deal with any anxiety you may be feeling about where this challenge is leading you.
