Building on an Event Planning Career by studying Event Design

At the start of 2017 I was lucky enough to have a bit of a tour around Australia and spent some time in Sydney reacquainting myself with the amazing tourist attractions including the Harbour Bridge, the Opera House and taking a seaplane to see all of Sydney from dizzy heights. While I was there I sat down with some of our students to talk to them about their experience being a student with the Australian Academy and the journey they had been on since enrolling.

Our first interview is with Kate Whittaker and Kate came in all the way from Canberra to spend some time with me and have a bit of a mentoring session to help her decide what she wants to do now she has nearly finished her study. Kate’s journey has been an interesting one as she already had a substantial amount of experience within the events industry before enrolling with the Academy, as the Events Manager for Canberra Convention Bureau. For Kate, however, she wanted to be able to add another string to her bow and turn a passion into something more than hobby. She’d always loved the design and styling side of events and that for her was the reason for enrolling in the Certificate in Event Design, to add to her portfolio and to do something she really loved.

Below you can hear all about Kate’s story and the journey she’s been on as a student with the Academy.
