This month’s #WedPin theme was Desert Rose and it was embraced beautifully by each of the contestants. I loved the raw beauty and the abundance of texture in all of the boards submitted and especially enjoyed the way it inspired those who participated to look to different parts of the world, for desert inspiration; from Vegas, to Arizona and the Australian outback.
Jennifer’s board inspired by Uluru was a standout and I also adored this board by Mandy, which expresses a beautiful sentiment about love. Carla from our UK campus curated a lovely board which included so many stunning details for a couple to fall in love with.
But it was this board, by Bec Cary which really caught my attention. She used restraint in selecting images that stayed true to her story, that love, is the only thing, for miles and miles when two people marry, in the desert.
Desert Rose
“The rose breathes life into the vast, harsh landscape of the desert. The rose is the heart and soul of what would ordinarily be an empty space. That rose, to me, is that soft gentle love shared between two people.
In such a vast landscape of a desert, simplicity is key to bringing that love to life. Natural lighting, whimsical fabrics, pastel colours of the sunset and subtle flowers like that of a David Austin Rose. All beautiful elements that will contrast and balance the earthy and stark fabric of the land. Without overwhelming it. Where the only thing that matters is getting lost in the love that you share.”
Congratulations Bec and thank you to everyone who participated. I will be sharing links to the boards on social media over the coming weeks and encourage you to share them too. Each submission is appreciated and shows off the creative talents of our community in a stunning way.
Stay tuned for the announcement of our April challenge next week.
