Hello! Last month we launched an Instagram challenge for wedding lovers, called #Wedgram. This challenge requires you to submit a vignette, or flat-lay to us based on a set theme. Our very first challenge attracted a strong following and I was honestly blown away by the creativity of each entry, based on our theme of ‘A Wedding Lover’s Desk’. Thank you to everyone who entered. I hope you found it to be a fun exercise and that you will be joining us again next time and if you have just found #Wedgram we want you to participate too. As I have said previously, the real benefit of a challenge like this is for you. This particular challenge gives you experience in styling, photography for Instagram and using social media as a professional. Alongside that, is the benefit of honing your craft each time you enter. So please stay tuned for the announcement of next month’s theme.
So to our winners. Our judge this month is one of our favourite Wedding Photographer’s, Kylie of Just for Love Photography (Kylie also wrote the E-book you receive when you register for the challenge). Kylie’s own Instagram page is an inspiration in itself, so please make sure you check it out. So it is over to Kylie to announce the winners and explain why she chose them.

@alexandraroseweddings: I adore that this student has gone above & beyond, collaborating with another Instagram user (@themulberrymoth) to bring together her flat lay for the competition. Being that this is what Instagram is all about (creating a community) I think this should be encouraged. In terms of Alexandra’s flat lay, I love the rich pink colour palette she has chosen and she has incorporated florals, texture & items that bring her inspiration – all whilst making sure all of the items complimented her theme. She has also used white space effectively, allowing her design room to breathe and I feel that she has paid attention to the lighting, resulting in a photo that shows a nice even light source. Lastly, the way that she has placed the silk ribbon is fantastic too, as it can be challenging to get it to weave between items just right. A really great effort!
What both Kylie and the Academy think is fabulous is that Monica and Alexandra are also interacting really well with their community on Instagram by starting conversations and replying to comments and this is fantastic to see and something we encourage you all to do.
