Earlier in the week I did the second of my Wedding Trendsetter Interviews with the lovely Brit Bertino and just in case any of you missed it I thought I would give you a quick recap here on the blog and of course a link to the video itself so you can watch it on YouTube.
Brit is lucky enough to plan events in Las Vegas, all over California, Seattle and Mexico so her clientele is quite varied, as are the events she plans. The trends differ from one region to another so her predictions really cover a broad spectrum, which makes it all the more interesting for us.
We chatted about inspiration and the industries we turn to when we want to be inspired and one Brit mentioned was the fashion industry. She sees Europe as leading the way in fashion, which is nice to hear, as it is certainly the US that leads the way in wedding and event design.
When I asked Brit where she heads to be inspired her answer was not at all what I expected. The standard answers tend to include going for a walk or run, surrounding yourself with nature, flicking through an art book etc., but for Brit her ‘go to’ place is the airport. Yep you heard me right, the airport. I think that’s fabulous because she’s right. There is so much to see and so many different types of people to be seen at the airport. It is full of inspiration everywhere you look. So the next time you’re feeling uninspired maybe a quick trip to the airport is in order.
But what about the trends? What were some of Brit’s top trend predictions? Well one thing resonated with me and that was the return of bling, although it has been renamed to crystals now, but it is essentially the same thing. People are starting to spend money again so the scaled back affairs are starting to move over in favour of a more lavish and luxurious event.
Destination weddings continue to rise, interactivity at weddings in the form of entertainment is set to be big and natural and nude colour palettes are topping the list.
To hear more from Brit you need to watch our full interview below, and of course Brit is one of the contributors of the Trend Report so you’ll be able to read her full predictions there. Don’t forget to subscribe to get your free copy of the report once it publishes on the 4th of January, 2017.
