The Wedding Industry is back in the UK!
As most of you may know, I’ve been with the Academy for a year now. The majority of my blogs have revolved around our year of lockdown:
- How to Make Your Home a Creative Space
- 5 Study Tips for Trainee Wedding Planners
- How to Get Motivated as a New Wedding Planner
All we’ve heard is, “once we get out”, or “once things are open”. Waiting and praying for the day that things get back to some kind of normal and waiting for that day that the wedding industry can begin again.
Last week, a year’s worth of lockdowns came to an end for us in the UK!
“Freedom Day” has arrived. No limits and no restrictions! So, what does that mean for us?
The wedding industry has suffered just as much as any. With the limits on numbers constantly changing, and new rules evolving every five minutes, the confusion and uncertainty has been enormous.
Finally, the number of guests permitted at weddings now has no limit. Face masks no longer need to be worn, and all social distancing measures have been relaxed.
And there can be dancing! Endless all-night dancing!
It almost feels like 2019 again! Gone are the days of enforced micro weddings and outdoor EVERYTHING.
So, now we’re out, how do we feel?
After months of preparing ourselves to tackle our visions head on with a new lease of life, are we ready?
Do you feel prepared? Ready?
For me, I tried to see our lockdown months as the opportunity to plan. Planning for things to hit at full force once normality resumes.
Many people are feeling the pressures of unlocking. Not quite knowing how to feel or how to adapt.
The most important thing to keep in mind, is everyone is different! There is no singular right way to deal with our newfound freedom.
If you’re more comfortable taking your carefully made plans for your clients one baby step at a time, with virtual meetings, then that’s what you do.
Or if you’re someone that wants to enjoy the freedoms that we’ve been denied for so long, meeting clients, seeing venues, and helping clients to up their guest numbers, then that’s the choice for you.
There is absolutely no doubt that everyone’s reactions will be different. But our main goal is the same. Getting this vibrant, exciting, wonderful industry back on its feet!
That’s what we’ve been waiting for, the chance to put our months and MONTHS of at home, strategic and in-depth plans in to action.
So now we want to hear from you.
I want to know your plans now we can actually HAVE plans. What are your next steps for your wedding business? Have things changed for you for the better?
Or will you still be doing things virtually for a while?
